A gullible tourist lost a large amount of money before her trip to Thailand: the girl rented a “luxury villa with a pool through social networks” and was deceived.
The media write that the girl sent a deposit to the “homeowner”, and then the truth was revealed.
“Achiraya Malarat, a 27-year-old tourist from Khon Kaen province, was planning a family vacation in Pattaya. Looking for accommodation, the girl turned to Facebook, where she found an account with an offer for a luxury villa with a pool.
Since there were many members in the community, Malarat boldly booked a house for herself and her family. After contacting the owner of the page, she transferred a deposit of 16,900 baht to cover the insurance,” writes TheThaiger.
According to the girl, after the transfer of money, the account on the social network was temporarily disabled.
“Alarmed Achiraya was unable to reach the given number, but received a booking confirmation. Arriving at the villa, the tourist and her extended family of 18 were stunned when the real owner of the villa revealed that they had been victims of a scam. The man explained that the Facebook page was fake used photos of their hotel, and advised me to contact the police,” the publication adds.
The girl followed his advice and wrote a statement at the Pattaya police station. The media added that so far there is no information about bringing the suspects to justice, but urges tourists to be more careful and reasonable.
