In Thailand, a boat with tourists was sucked in by a water tornado: two vacationers disappeared, five were injured

In the province of Phetchaburi in southern Thailand, two tourists have gone missing and five others were injured in an incident involving a waterspout that sucked in a boat with travelers.

The event took place on August 12 at 17:00 in Bang Ta Bun Bay, near the Ban Laem area, according to The Thaiger. The boat with seven tourists on board got into a waterspout, causing it to capsize and sink to the bottom. The passengers ended up in the water, and a rescue unit from the Savang Sanphet Thammasathan Foundation quickly arrived at the scene.

Thanks to the prompt action of the rescuers, five exhausted tourists were saved. However, the fate of the other two is still unknown. According to preliminary data, the missing persons were men. One of them was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, and the other was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. The nationality of the tourists has not been established.

The moment of the accident was accidentally recorded on the mobile phone camera of one of the visitors to the coastal cafe. Video footage shows how a waterspout swallows a boat full of people. An active search operation is currently underway to locate the two missing travelers.
