A passenger of the Indian airline IndiGo, due to depression, tried to open the emergency door of a flying plane and jump out of it, The New York Post reports.
According to the publication, the incident occurred in India on a flight flying from Guwahati to Agartala. During the flight, 41-year-old Biswajit Debnath stood up abruptly and went to open the emergency exit door.
Seeing this, passengers and crew members rushed to stop him, but the man resisted. Fellow passengers helped flight attendants hold him down until the plane landed safely. Upon arrival at his destination, the Indian was arrested by the police.
It turned out that Debnath had been struggling with depression for a long time. This explains the man’s shocking act. He is now accused of endangering more than 180 passengers on the flight and assaulting crew members.
Let us remind you that this is not the first time that passengers have created emergency situations. Previously, a similar incident occurred on a Delta flight flying from Los Angeles to Seattle. The man opened the door as the aircraft was already taxiing onto the runway.
