In French New Caledonia, a shark attacked an Australian tourist, the man died from severe injuries.
It is reported that a 59-year-old tourist from Australia was relaxing on the beach. While swimming at the pontoon 150 meters from the shore, he was attacked by a shark. The victim was pulled out of the water by rescuers on a jet ski, but the man died after the arrival of doctors.
All vacationers on the beach, near which the shark attack occurred, were evacuated.
This is the third shark attack in this area since the beginning of the year. A few weeks ago, a woman was seriously injured due to an attack by a marine predator, after which the beach was temporarily closed.
New Caledonia is a French overseas administrative-territorial entity with a special status. It is an archipelago of several tropical islands with blue lagoons and dense forests, popular with tourists.
