A traveler attempting to smuggle in 20 animals – 15 snakes four centipedes and a lizard – was stopped by Huanggang Customs in Shenzhen, South China’s Guangdong province, the Global Times reported.
The customs officers noticed her because of her suspiciously strange gait and too-tight clothes.
Further inspection revealed that she had tied several animals to her waist and chest and had hidden others in her pockets.
According to Customs, the woman was attempting to smuggle nine kingsnakes, six hog snakes, four giant yellowtail centipedes, and one lizard, all of which are exotic species.
Customs officials reminded that it is prohibited to transport or mail endangered animals out of the country without the appropriate permit.
