The habits and behavior of Russian tourists vacationing in the resorts of Abkhazia evoke strong emotions in the locals, and they are by no means happy. Abkhazians voiced their complaints in a conversation with Lenta.ru.
“Everyone looks so decent and well-mannered, and they consistently carry spoons, forks, and shoulder bags – I don’t leave them anymore, I only bring them if they ask. Someone needed the TV remote,” shared resident Zoya, who rents out an apartment.
An employee of a hotel located in Pitsunda, who wished to remain anonymous, was outraged by the thefts by tourists from Russia. “If they need something, let them tell us about it – we will give it to them, but they steal everything they can take: mugs, plates, towels, food from each other. Once upon a time, a person stole socks from another vacationer. He then put them on, and the other person tells him that they are mine, which has disappeared, and that’s how it turned out,” he said.
In addition, locals who host Russian guests complained about frequent damage to property. According to them, they constantly have to repair something: “You constantly have to fix something: sometimes the eaves, sometimes the chairs. Recently, the toilet was broken, and they didn’t want to admit it yet – they say, they say, it was already broken. And how did you go to the toilet all this time, I wonder? – added the interlocutor.
The majority of hotel employees noted the excessive relaxation of Russian travelers who come on vacation with children. According to an Abkhazian, parents forget about their children: “They sit, drink vodka, and hungry children can run around all day. Mom and dad were asked to eat – they said “no hello”. Then they come to us – we feed, entertain the children, and what do you do as nannies sometimes.”
At the same time, female tourists from Russia who visited Abkhazia on vacation accused local men of excessive attention in their direction. On the other hand, the Abkhazians were not confused and offered to punish female travelers for wearing too revealing clothes.
