Europeans tend to book hotels and apartments in Turkey to spend the coldest months there. According to the Turkish publication Hurriyet, the trend began after gas and electricity prices skyrocketed in Europe. “Fearing that the situation could get worse, Europeans are looking for housing in Turkey,” the newspaper writes.
According to Ferman Ademhan, a representative of the Anatolian Association of Tourism Administrations (ATİD), the coming months promise excellent opportunities for hoteliers. Many visitors from the EU and the UK prefer to book accommodation for the whole winter at once: it’s better than spending money on gas and electricity bills.
Hoteliers and travel companies in Turkey are looking to attract more guests, including European retirees from Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and the Scandinavian countries who are interested in longer stays.
The most effective method is to offer the best price. On the website of the European Internet travel agency Lidl Reisen, for example, a 3-week tour to the Castival 5 * hotel in Side is advertised for 609 euros (1218 for two). This price includes not only accommodation from 2 to 23 December with all-inclusive and transfers, but also the flight from Cologne.
