The Greek authorities plan to abandon covid passes as early as April. Despite the still high level of the spread of coronavirus in the country, almost all sanitary requirements will be canceled by the tourist season, epidemiologist Gikas Maiorkinis told reporters.
It is expected that by the middle of the month special passes will no longer be needed to visit shops, restaurants, cafes and other public leisure facilities. In addition, the use of personal protective equipment, such as medical masks, will also become optional by the summer.
However, with an increase in COVID-19 cases, all coronavirus claims will be returned immediately. Gikas Maiorkinis also added that the mask regime and covid passes will come into effect again in October, after the end of the tourist season.
Recall that earlier the Greek Ministry of Health planned to introduce sanitary concessions in March. However, they should have been distributed only to citizens vaccinated against coronavirus. However, for now, the government is prepared to disregard the vaccination status of local residents and tourists, but only temporarily, until the end of the holiday season.
