A British traveler bought a cheap flight ticket and found himself in fabulous conditions: the man was the only passenger on board and the flight attendants treated him “like a king”, reports the Daily Star.
According to the publication, 65-year-old Paul Wilkinson was flying from Faro, Portugal to Belfast on Jet2.
“This was a flight a man will never forget: the crew treated him like ‘royalty’. Paul received VIP treatment on board, ‘as if he were flying in his private jet.’ and found that he was the only one in line for the plane.
He even asked the airport staff if his flight was delayed or canceled, but they informed him that the plane was about to take off as Paul is the only passenger to have booked the flight,” the source said.
“I thought they were laughing at me. I thought I was late or arrived too early. I kept thinking that they would now say that my flight was canceled,” Wilkinson shared his feelings.
This was just the beginning of the man’s adventure: to his surprise, only he and the driver were on the double-decker bus to the plane. The flight attendants then said that the passenger could take any seat on the plane.
“Most likely, this will never happen again,” the impressed man shared his emotions.
The happy traveler stretched out in the front row and even had time to chat with the captain before takeoff. The flight attendants called him “King Paul” throughout the flight.
“It just felt wrong. I thought that any minute they would say that the flight was canceled and there was a mix-up. I asked if they were joking, but they said that the plane was completely mine, and I can do what I want and ask for what I wanted.
The service was second to none. I jokingly asked for a refund for a seat I had booked. It was just unrealistic,” the Briton added.
Paul paid just £130 for his three-hour VIP flight. According to him, all three flight attendants “worked only for him”:
“It was great because they were on my parcels. Now I’m spoiled. Next time, getting on a plane, I’ll ask how many people are on board,” the British pensioner jokes.
Paul was heading to Belfast after a golf holiday in Portugal to meet his 52-year-old wife Deborah at a family event.
“My wife said that she was cramped on another flight, and I flew on my private jet. I think this happens only once in a lifetime.
The flight took the vacationers to Portugal, and there was no one to return to Britain. I was lucky that I had to go to Belfast,” the passenger summed up his unexpected VIP adventure.
“We are delighted that Mr. Wilkinson was able to appreciate our unparalleled VIP-style customer service,” an airline spokesman told reporters.
