Design studio Rafael Viñoly Architects has presented an ambitious plan for renovating the airport in Florence, which includes not only expanding the terminal and improving transport infrastructure but also creating its vineyard, including on the roof of the main building.
According to Euronews, it is planned to allocate about 8 hectares of land for a vineyard to produce wine right on the airport grounds.
This will not only highlight the uniqueness of the region but will also add a new attribute to the hospitality of Tuscany, recognized as the wine capital of Italy.
The project will be implemented in two stages. The first phase is scheduled to be completed by 2026, including major works to expand the terminal and improve infrastructure. The second stage, which will cover the creation of the vineyard and related transformations, is expected no earlier than 2035.
