The border guards of South-East Finland stopped a German citizen who was trying to ride a bicycle to Russia through the Nuijamaa border crossing.
In his statement, the Finnish border guard emphasized that the man, who was moving on a bicycle, was caught on November 14 by a border patrol from the Russian side. The violator was not “taken prisoner”, but simply deployed back to the territory of Finland.
Further, a German citizen was summoned to the district court of South Karelia for a crime at the state border. The meeting was held with the participation of the border commissioner of the Vyborg region. What fate awaits the “cyclist” is still unknown. He can get off with a fine and return to his homeland.
Meanwhile, data provided by the Finnish Border Guard shows that after the decision of the authorities to restrict the entry of Russian citizens into Finland from September 30, the number of arrivals has significantly decreased.
