The encouraging signals for the Russians about the quick return of flights to Egypt, received over the weekend from iFly, were not destined to come true. On Monday, the tour operator “TEZ Tour” announced details that are not so encouraging for Russians. Briefly – Egypt was postponed indefinitely: flights were banned, flights were canceled, and money was promised to be returned.
“In connection with the lack of permission to use the airspace of Jordan, as well as the restrictions imposed on the flight of several other countries, A/C “I Fly” informed TEZ TOUR about the forced cancellation of the program of international flights to Egypt from points on the territory of the Russian Federation. At the moment, the airline has almost fully fulfilled its obligations to take 7,500 passengers out of the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt, organizing 22 takeaways on flights of third-party air carriers to Moscow and other regions of Russia,” – to the press service.”
As experts added, as of December 26, there are still single tourists in Hurghada whose vacation has not yet been completed. They will be offered flight options individually. Tourists will be taken out of Sharm el-Sheikh from December 28 to 31.
Remember that the story with Jordan dates back to the tenth of December. The first to face this problem was “Pegasus”, whose tourists were transferred to the Turkish carrier Southwind Airlines and were sent to the resorts of Egypt with an intermediate landing in Antalya for refueling because the Turks do not have the right to take Russian passengers directly to a third country – only with a formal landing on the territory of Turkey.
Next, the carrier “TEZ Tour” – iFly airline – also came under attack. Jordan has closed its airspace to aircraft that have not undergone “determinization”, the carriers of several tour operators have received a requirement from the Jordanian aviation authority to provide an insurance certificate issued in London and classified A++ to be able to use the airspace of this country. The problem is that on the route to Egypt, the airspace of Jordan is critical – it is almost impossible to fly around it. Moreover, planes with dual “citizenship” do not allow other countries to pass. Those who switched to the Russian register fly through Turkey.
On Saturday, “a ray of hope flashed for Russian tourists”: Jordanian media reported that the country’s aviation authorities allowed iFly to enter Jordanian airspace on its way to Egypt. However, there was no official confirmation of this over the weekend. And on Monday, information was announced about the extension of the ban on departures.
