Egypt plans to introduce a tourist tax for leaving the country

The Egyptian authorities are considering introducing an exit tourist tax for all travelers leaving the country.

It is planned that the fee will be 100 Egyptian pounds.

However, for tourists arriving in the main provinces – the Red Sea, South Sinai, Luxor, Aswan and Mersa Matruh, the fee will be 50 pounds.

The departure tax will be included in the ticket price.

In addition, additional taxes may be imposed on purchases in Duty Free stores and on imported goods.

If all changes are approved by law, they will come into force as early as July 1, 2023.
