The Egyptian province of South Sinai and the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh located there are called the safest place for tourists in Egypt. The province has the lowest number of cases and deaths from COVID-19, as well as the highest rates of recovery and vaccination among locals and hotel staff. More precisely, the provincial officials generally stated that South Sinai became the first province in Egypt whose population was fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
According to Major General Khaled Fudu, the governor of South Sinai, only 81 people have died from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in the province, the lowest among Egypt’s governorates. In addition, currently only one case of coronavirus has been reported in the province, after two cases of the disease were not recorded at all. In total, only 1.4 thousand cases of coronavirus were recorded in the province during the whole pandemic, and only 29 of them required hospitalization.
It will be recalled that this safe resort of Sharm el-Sheikh is well known to our tourists. In addition to the warm Red Sea with a beautiful underwater world – in some hotels you can watch it without sailing from the beach pontoon. The province is also known for its attractions, the main of which – the monastery of St. Catherine and Mount Sinai.
