Dense fog in Delhi delayed dozens of flights and the cold snap forced authorities to delay the opening of schools for a week as visibility worsened and cars drove with emergency lights on, Reuters reported.

The India Meteorological Department has forecast “dense to very dense fog” in many parts of Delhi and northern and eastern states such as Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
