A tourist blogger decided to brag on TikTok about a tattoo she got herself in Morocco, and it turned out to be a kind of “Darwin tourism award” for the blogger-“influencer”: the vast majority of those who watched the video laughed at the tourist for her stupidity.
“The video, posted by caitdelphine, has been viewed more than 1.7 million times since it was posted in early December. The video’s caption reads: “In Morocco, you get the same tattoos as people you met in the hostel 10 days ago,” Moroccan media quoted him as saying.
However, it quickly became clear in the comments that tattooing with strangers and in an unfamiliar language is very reckless. The video showed someone using the Google Translate camera feature, which translates the tattoo from Arabic — and as it turns out, the beautiful word in Arabic simply means “mayonnaise.” Which caused the commentators to laugh.
“You’ll never forget it in a store again. A personal permanent shopping list,” joked one user. “True friendship is mayonnaise,” bloggers commented.
