Canada continues to have the most stringent COVID-19 protocols in place. So, all travelers must be fully vaccinated. These rules will remain in effect until at least June 30. This was announced on Tuesday, May 31, by the country’s public health authorities.
So, until June 30, all travelers, regardless of the point of entry, must upload their vaccination certificates and additional travel information to the ArriveCan app. Moreover, this must be done at least 72 hours before the trip.
The Canadian government’s announcement states: “If you fail to provide your travel information and proof of vaccination with ArriveCAN, you could be fined $5,000.”
This is the only moment that vaccinated tourists should “not forget” about before traveling to Canada, since preliminary tests for them have been officially canceled since April.
Currently, the Canadian government has approved nine types of vaccines, including those from Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. At least 14 days must elapse after the final dose of the vaccine.
Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated tourists are still banned from entering Canada until at least July. Depending on the current situation with new infections, the ban may be extended.
Children aged 5 to 11 are exempt from the vaccination and testing requirement if they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult. Entry requirements do not apply to persons under 5 years of age.
Upon arrival at some airports, travelers may be randomly selected to be tested for COVID-19. The list includes Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
“As a reminder, vaccinated travelers arriving in Canada from any country may be required to undergo a molecular test for COVID-19 if selected for mandatory random testing,” Canadian government officials said earlier. At the same time, it is not necessary to wait for the test results in quarantine mode.
