Brussels Airport Faces Another Shutdown on 26 November

Departures will be fully halted and arrivals only partially operated as Belgium enters a three-day nationwide strike — the seventh major disruption this year amid protests, cyberattacks and drone incidents.

Brussels Airport has announced that no departing flights will operate on 26 November, while arriving flights will run on a limited basis. The hub has faced repeated disruptions in recent weeks due to strikes, drone incursions and cyberattacks.

Belgium is preparing for a three-day nationwide rolling strike from 24 to 26 November, affecting public transport, rail services and postal operations. Workers are again demanding increased social spending as government negotiations over the 2026 budget remain stalled.

This will be the seventh strike since the start of the year, with core demands unchanged. Prime Minister Bart De Wever has warned he is ready to resign if budget talks collapse. According to the European Commission, Belgium is projected to have the highest budget deficit in the Eurozone by 2027 — 5.9%.

Brussels Airport reported losses of €175 million from strike days this year alone, with 275,000 passengers affected so far.
