Briton denied flight due to nuts

The passenger was not allowed on the flight due to a food allergy to nuts, as the crew feared for her life during the flight. The girl was alone, several thousand kilometers from home, Dip.org.ua reports concerning Mirror.co.uk.

Britain’s Hannah Olsen suffers from a mild nut allergy. She was heading on holiday from Manchester to Cape Town with a layover in Istanbul. The first part of the flight went without problems. However, when boarding the second flight in Turkey, the girl asked the crew for a menu with the composition of the dishes to ensure that there were no nuts.

“I have a mild allergy, it’s not airborne. I didn’t ask them not to serve nuts or to change anything in flight. I just wanted to know to ensure the food was safe for me,” she said.

The crew members suggested that she write a handwritten statement that she takes full responsibility for what happened on the flight. She agreed and signed. However, ten minutes later the flight attendant returned and informed Hannah that the pilot was refusing to fly with her. The girl was asked to leave the board.

“I was so upset, it was inhumane. I was crying and the other passengers were angry at me because of the flight delay,” Olsen shares.

The woman spent a day in Istanbul and paid for the hotel from her pocket. Turkish Airlines agreed to put her on another flight in the right direction without additional payment.
