Turkish hotspot Bodrum will receive foreign tourists, as the mayor expects three times more tourists than in 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic.
As preparations for the tourist season gain momentum, the tourist destination in southwestern Turkey hopes to receive three times more tourists this year.
The mayor said Bodrum is fast becoming a major tourist destination in Turkey
“This year we are receiving positive feedback from Russian and Ukrainian tourists,” Mayor Ahmet Aras told reporters in Bodrum, stressing that he expected at least two to three times more foreign tourists this summer.
Bodrum, where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean, is also a tourist destination for the British, Germans, Belgians, Poles and Dutch.
With a beautiful natural environment, a sprawling blue sea of all shades, modern and well-equipped marinas, 3500-year-old historic sites and beautiful sandy beaches for relaxing in the sun.
“Bodrum is a place that makes you fall in love, and you want to visit this source of happiness and peace again and again,” said Aras, expecting that tourists from all over the world will continue to choose a seaside town as a holiday destination this summer.
Luxury tourism in Bodrum
As Turkey has never completely closed its border since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the city expects to open the summer season in June at full capacity.
Despite declining incomes from domestic luxury tourism around the world last year due to the pandemic, Aras said there is a growing trend in Bodrum for high-income people.
According to him, the city is one of the best tourist destinations in Turkey and is ready to offer luxury travel services.
“Bodrum is full of boutique hotels. You can’t find multi-storey hotels with 1000 seats. All our hotels are boutique hotels. Here you can get excellent, unique and exclusive service, “said the mayor.
He noted that Bodrum has all the elements of luxury tourism – safe and individual hotels, flexible travel options, individual and private tours, as well as unique experiences.
“This is not a city where you have to hurry, run here and there. It is also not a city where you just close yourself in a large hotel complex. Here you can live a luxurious daily life. walk the streets, socialize with locals, walk on the beach roads, rent yachts, arrange short or long sea walks.
Bodrum is also a popular destination for local tourists, Aras said. “In 2020, we received more local tourists than in previous years. If you visit Bodrum, you will definitely fall in love with this city. “
