The Senate of Berlin has announced that it will continue to sell single tickets for the capital’s public transport for 29 euros.
The authorities of the German capital said that discount tickets worth 29 euros, introduced in October this year, will be valid until the end of March 2023.
“The validity of the €29 ticket is extended: the discounted offer will be valid in the Berlin area until the end of March 2023. In this way, the Berlin Senate is investing in modern public transport and effectively relieves the financial burden on Berliners.”
Initially, the authorities planned to keep the “single” for 29 euros only until a new national fare of 49 euros was introduced. But, since there is every reason to believe that the new ticket, valid throughout Germany, will not be ready by January 2023, they decided to extend the validity of the old one until March.
According to the Senate, an additional budget of 500 million euros has already been allocated to subsidize preferential tickets for local public transport.
