After an animal that was reportedly a shark bit a child on Phuket’s popular beach this week, a Thai official said bloodthirsty marine life could be the island’s new cool tourist attraction, a prime example of the stupidity and savagery of some officials.
According to Thaiger, Juta Dumlak, president of the Kamala Tambon administrative organization, said that if it was a shark attack, these predatory fish could become a new trend in nature tourism. He added that since the Covid-19 pandemic began, natural resources have been restored, including fish populations that disappeared many years ago.
“It will have a positive impact on the tourism sector and attract tourists from around the world …”, – said the official.
We will remind, earlier on Kamala beach the 8-year-old Thai-Ukrainian boy who traveled with 6 members of a family, suffered from attack of the unknown animal, probably, sharks. During the attack, he swam with his mother and father and was in the water at a depth of 1 meter. The boy was reportedly about 100 meters from the shore.
After the incident, his family and local vendors helped pull the boy out of the water and sent him to a Bangkok hospital in Phuket. Doctors applied more than 30 stitches to the boy’s wound, leaving a long deep cut on the calf of his right leg. Locals and vendors who witnessed the incident believed it could be a sea fish or a species of barracuda. But on Tuesday, the island’s leading marine biologist, Dr. Kongkiat Kittiwattanawong, insisted the boy was bitten by a small bull shark.
