European tourists, as before, are ready to travel and rest in resorts, but in connection with inflation, which is growing in Europe, they plan a very economical vacation. All optional expenses will “go under the knife” – this is the primary trend this year. This assessment of the situation is published by the European mass media, referring to the report of the European Tourist Commission (ETC). It is a report “Study of consumer attitudes towards travel and prospects for improving tourism”, which analyzed tourists’ impressions of the 2022 summer season and their mid- and long-term expectations. Tourists from such countries as France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Great Britain, as well as Australia, and the USA, took part in the surveys.
According to him, 3 out of 4 surveyed potential tourists say that rising European inflation will affect their future vacations. They plan to carefully time their next travel booking, reduce travel time and “prioritize their travel budget more carefully.” In addition, travelers are expected to spend less at their destinations.
At the same time, the vast majority of international travelers have a positive attitude towards Europe as a tourist destination, only Eastern Europe suffered a little. 91% of respondents said that they have a positive attitude towards Europe as a tourist destination, but 7% are afraid of Eastern European countries.
At the same time, it is emphasized that travel agencies and tour operators in the eyes of tourists were “on top” – despite all the peculiarities of 2022, they were able to ensure the satisfaction of tourists. At least 94% of surveyed consumers said they were satisfied with the 2022 summer vacation.
