Since the beginning of the local “long weekend” in honor of Kurban Bayram, hotels in Antalya have been crowded with local tourists. “Antalya is bursting at the seams now. And even there are practically no options to “move in at an expensive price”, – said an ex-pat living in Turkey in her blog.
According to her, most hotels in Antalya are 100% booked before the end of Kurban Bayram. Moreover, local tourists also actively rest under the “all-inclusive” system. As a result, there is only one option for locals – a day stay in the hotel, that is, using its infrastructure and restaurants, but without checking into a room – this is practiced by many Turkish hotels in resort areas.
“I haven’t seen such crowds for a long time. In the end, the relatives decided to wait for the moment when the local tourists leave and it will be possible to stay at normal prices for at least a couple of nights,” the blogger said.
We will remind you that tourists were warned about this at the beginning of June – then there was information that thanks to the “long weekend” on Kurban Bayram, which was extended to nine days by the order of President Erdogan, in Antalya they recorded a sensational demand from domestic Turkish tourists and expect up to 100% occupancy. Moreover, this happened already at the end of June – at the beginning of July, starting from 06.27.23. So the excitement started in advance.
“We expect that hotel occupancy at major resorts will be close to 100 percent during this period,” said Riza Percin, head of the Council of the Mediterranean Region of the Association of Travel Agencies of Turkey (TÜRSAB). President of the Association of Hoteliers of Turkey (TÜROB) Muberra Eresin gives an estimate of “up to 80%”. Moreover, the main flow will fall on Antalya and the Aegean coast of Turkey, that is, places where foreign tourists also like to rest. The “wave” of tourists will subside no earlier than July 6.
