Authorities on the Indonesian island of Bali have assured tourists that they can continue their travels around the island and stay in hotels, despite a terrible incident at one of the popular resort hotels on Friday.
At Ayuterra Resort, a four-star hotel in the Ubud area, an incident occurred when an elevator-carrying people collapsed into a shaft due to a broken cable. Five people died as a result of this accident.
Two of the victims died immediately at the scene, and three others died later while in the hospital. It is worth noting that the victims were hotel employees aged 19 to 24 years.
An investigation is currently underway to clarify all the circumstances and causes of this tragedy. Governor Vaian Koster expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and called on all resort hotels and tourist sites on the island to pay special attention to the health and safety of their guests.
Authorities also said that to ensure reliability, police will conduct inspections of the condition of elevators in all hotels on the island.
