According to media reports, an emergency situation occurred on a flight in the summer of 2022, but pilot Jonathan Dunn was charged with “interfering with the activities of the flight crew” only in October 2023. As the publication clarifies, according to the inspector general, Dunn had a conflict with the aircraft commander.
“After a disagreement over a possible flight diversion due to the medical condition of one of the passengers, Dunn told the captain that he would shoot him multiple times if he diverted the flight,” the publication noted.
The inspector general’s office is reportedly working with both the FBI and the US Federal Aviation Administration on the matter.
The alleged US airline is understood to have declined to comment on the matter but confirmed that Dunn was no longer employed by it. According to the publication, we are talking about Delta Air Lines.
As the media clarifies, if Dunn is found guilty, he faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years. A hearing in the case is scheduled for November 16.
