In Mexico, the engine of an aircraft of the Mexican airline VivaAerobus caught fire, while flying from Guadalajara to Los Angeles (USA).
The incident occurred during takeoff, the right engine of the Airbus A320-200 caught fire on takeoff. At an altitude of almost 4000 meters, a loud hum was heard from the right engine, and flames and sparks flew out of it. The crew immediately stopped climbing, turned off the engine, and headed back.
The liner spent 43 minutes in the air and made several circles over the capital of the state of Jalisco before landing at Guadalajara airport.
The landing was successful, no one was hurt, but the passengers say that “VivaAerobus handled this situation disgustingly. No crew communication with passengers, and we thought we were about to die!
