In the Balinese city of Ubud, a priest got into a fight with a tourist because of a road accident. The incident was captured on video that circulated online, and local news site Coconuts Bali drew attention to it.
The footage, which has become viral on the network, shows how a man in a traditional white robe takes off his hat and attacks a tourist. Next, the opponents begin to push each other, while passers-by are watching with interest what is happening.
The police launched an investigation, identified and found the priest involved in the conflict.
Jro Mangku priest Budi Utama, 51, told police he was on his way to perform his religious duties when he ran into traffic on Ubud’s main road around 3:00 pm. At one point, a tourist hit a car behind him with his car. When the clergyman approached to inform him of this, the driver began to insult him.
“For me it was rude. Sorry, I’m a priest, but I’m also human. I can’t take this insult,” he said.
“Due to the incident, Jro Mangku received two punches in the jaw and left side of the forehead. But there are no serious injuries, only pain in the left side of the forehead,” said Bali police spokesman Stephanus Satake Bayu Setianto.
The foreigner also received blows to the face, but there is no exact information about his condition after the fight.
It is noted that the priest Budi Utama discussed the situation with his family and decided to write a statement against the offender.
