A woman complained that she was kicked off a British airline Jet2 plane because she was sweating.
56-year-old Helen Taylor and her husband were about to fly on a mini-vacation from Newcastle to Rome. She says she has type 2 diabetes and is also going through menopause.
On board the plane, Taylor felt a little dizzy and began to sweat.
“I just ate after not eating all day, and I have type 2 diabetes, so my blood sugar is high. All I have to do is sit down and drink some water and I’ll be fine.” everything is fine,” she said.
The woman claims that after a few minutes, she felt fine, but the flight attendant advised her to undergo a medical examination, and after 10 minutes she told her to get off the plane.
“We have decided that you will have to leave the plane, we believe that you pose a danger to the flight,” the woman is quoted as saying.
Taylor says she discussed it with the captain, who agreed she looked ready to fly but supported the flight attendant’s decision.
“I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. They made a decision based on unfounded evidence because they were not doctors,” the woman was indignant.
Afterward, Taylor claims, they were “dragged around the airport”, forced to return duty-free purchases, and questioned at border control. The woman says she tried to contact the company for several days to get her money back for her vacation but to no avail.
As a result, Jet2 said that the crew decided to disembark Taylor after communicating with independent specialists in the field of medical aviation.
“Following further investigation, which is an absolute priority, we have contacted Ms Taylor to apologize and refund the cost of her holiday as a gesture of goodwill,” they said.
