A popular region in Italy will pay tourists to travel on trains for the sake of ecology

The Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in northeastern Italy will cover the cost of train travel for tourists to promote eco-tourism.

This is stated in a message on the official website of the authorities of the hilly region on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, which is also known for its wines.

“Choose an eco-friendly holiday and reach Friuli-Venezia Giulia by train. Book your ticket at one of our branches in Grado, Lignano Sabbiadoro, Udine, and Trieste and Friuli-Venezia Giulia will provide you with a train ticket,” says messages

It is noted that the promotion will be valid until May 31, 2023.

In addition to paying for train fares, the region will also provide all travelers with an FVGcard, which includes discounts and free tickets to many local attractions.

In Trieste, for example, travelers will be able to visit Banksy’s exhibition at the Salone Degli Incanti at a reduced price from November to April 2023, as well as free access to other museums and cultural institutions. In Lignano Sabbiadoro, located east of Venice, travelers will be able to take advantage of a beach town on the shores of the Adriatic Sea.

How to train travel is being developed in Europe for the sake of ecology
Back in the autumn of 2019, several European countries initiated the introduction of a general tax on airline tickets to encourage tourists to travel less on the continent by plane as an unfriendly form of transport. At the same time, they began to develop railway connections more actively.

So, in Germany for the summer of 2022 train tickets of 9 euros were introduced. Despite some difficulties at the beginning of the program, in the end, the government of the country recognized it as a success.

In Spain, meanwhile, from September 1, 2022, passengers can travel for free on various trains of the national Renfe network.

In addition, it became known about plans to launch a trans-European network of night trains, consisting of 40 international long-distance lines, which will connect more than 200 cities and towns throughout Europe by 2030.
