A new terminal with vineyards on the roof will be built at Florence Airport. The project was designed by the American architectural company Rafael Viñoly Architects.
Vineyards on the roof, according to the authors of the project, will help improve the airport’s rating and will symbolize “the rich traditions and innovative spirit of Italy.”
It is planned to make wine from the grown grapes and age it right there, in special cellars.
The new Florence airport terminal is said to have an area of 50,000 square meters, it will be able to serve 5.9 million passengers per year. Construction will take place in two stages: the first is planned to be completed in 2026, and the second in 2035.
