A New Night Train Linking Three European Cities to Launch in Spring 2026

Це буде перше пряме залізничне сполучення між Швейцарією та Скандинавією — комфортна і екологічна подорож через серце Європи.

Europe’s rail revival continues with another exciting addition. The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has announced a brand-new night train route connecting Basel (Switzerland), Copenhagen (Denmark), and Malmö (Sweden) — the first-ever direct train link between Switzerland and Scandinavia.

Supported by the Swiss government, the initiative aims to make eco-friendly travel to Northern Europe more accessible. Each train will offer 350 seats in both sleeping compartments and regular seating. While seated tickets will be cheaper, the 16-hour journey makes the sleeper option well worth it for comfort.

Departures from Basel are scheduled for 17:35 every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, arriving in Malmö at 09:35 the following morning. Return trips from Malmö will leave at 18:50 on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays, reaching Basel at 11:30 the next day. The train will stop in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Odense, Copenhagen Airport, and other major hubs.

Tickets go on sale November 4, 2025, ahead of the official launch on April 15, 2026, available through the SBB website and mobile app.

This route joins a growing wave of European night trains that blend nostalgia, comfort, and sustainability — a new golden age of slow, scenic travel across the continent.
