In the south of Egypt near the city of Luxor, a balloon with tourists fell. Several people were hurt. This was announced on Monday by the Ministry of Civil Aviation of the Republic.
According to the agency, the balloon with 28 tourists went off course and collided with another balloon at a height of 60 m. As a result of the incident, the airtight casing of the device was broken and it made a hard landing on the ground.
It is specified that two vacationers were injured and were taken to a local hospital. However, their citizenship is still unknown, whether the tourists purchased the tour from a tour operator or street agencies, or whether they have a health insurance policy.
After the incident, the Ministry of Civil Aviation decided to suspend all balloon flights in the Luxor area until a special commission finds out the reasons for the incident.
Note that balloon tours are very popular among tourists in Egypt. However, sometimes they end tragically. In particular, as a result of the crash of a balloon near Luxor in 2013, 19 people were killed. In 2009, 16 vacationers were injured when their balloon crashed into a cell tower. A year earlier, seven tourists were injured in a similar incident.
