On November 18, Fox 5 News aired footage of a mysterious spherical object spotted above the Hudson River in New York, sparking debates and capturing the attention of conspiracy theorists, reports dailymail.co.uk.
The video, taken from a helicopter, shows a glowing sphere moving rapidly. It emerged from Hoboken, New Jersey, and headed toward the World Trade Center, where it vanished.
This sighting led some New Yorkers to wonder if aliens might be hiding among us, especially given that just days later, the Pentagon released a report on a near-collision between an airliner and an unidentified object off the city’s coast.
If the video indeed captured an unknown object, it must have been traveling at approximately 4300 kilometers per hour, covering 5 kilometers in just four seconds. The only real-world analogy to such an object would be the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, one of the fastest jets capable of reaching speeds up to 3500 kilometers per hour.
Experts have offered various theories about the mysterious sphere. Some believe it was an optical artifact caused by the helicopter’s glass, while others think it might have been a bird out of focus.
“I initially thought it might be a bird out of focus, but toward the end, the object appears transparent, which suggests light refraction rather than a solid object,” said Avi Loeb, a physicist from Harvard.
The expert added that the sphere could have been caused by a bright spot resulting from sunlight reflection as the camera shifted its position relative to the sun and the ground.
