On March 1, 2021, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Ukraine Davlatali Nazrizod met with Oleksandr Merezhko, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.
The interlocutors discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, energy, education and culture.
During the conversation, the parties expressed interest in developing the existing friendly relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine in all areas and bringing them to a qualitatively new level.
A. Merezhko noted that there is a great untapped potential for promoting cooperation between the two friendly countries.
D. Nazrizoda stressed the importance of strengthening the legal framework of cooperation, increasing trade, implementation of the Protocol of the fifth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Tajik-Ukrainian Commission on Economic Cooperation.
The interlocutors focused on the interaction of the Friendship and Cooperation Group of the Majlis Namoyandagon of the Majlis Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Deputy Group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Interparliamentary Relations with the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Ambassador of Tajikistan proposed to intensify the work of the parliamentary friendship groups of the parliaments of Tajikistan and Ukraine and to consider the possibility of holding their first meeting in the format of a video conference.
The meeting was held in a businesslike and friendly atmosphere.
