Singapore Airlines will be the first airline in the world to test the International Air Transport Association’s mobile Travel Pass app next week.
The airline will launch a digital health screening tool for passengers traveling from Singapore to London from March 15th.
This will mark the second phase of the carrier’s digital health check test based on the IATA Travel Pass.
Passengers with mobile phones running Apple’s iOS operating system will be asked to download the IATA Travel Pass app and create a digital ID, including their profile pictures and passport information.
They can also insert flight information into the app.
Subsequently, through a special online portal, you can order your Covid-19 test before leaving at one of seven clinics.
Register at the clinic using digital ID and flight information in the app.
Tourists will be able to view their test results, as well as the confirmation status for the flight, directly in the app.
Participants will need to show their confirmed status in the app to check-in staff at Changi Airport before their flight departs.
In accordance with current regulations, they will also need to present a physical copy of the health certificate issued by the clinic where they were tested for Covid-19.
By combining health data validation in one application, members can expect a faster and smoother registration process.
Users will have complete control over how their personal information is transferred, since the data is stored locally on the mobile phone, rather than in central databases.
This is critical given the very sensitive nature of health data.
If successful, the pilot will pave the way for integrating the entire digital health screening process into the SingaporeAir mobile app from around mid-2021.
