The plane connected with the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, who is under sanctions, landed in Moscow early this morning. Prior to that, the plane stopped briefly in Istanbul, according to Reuters, citing data from the real-time flight tracking site Flytradar 24.
The plane arrived in Istanbul from Israel yesterday shortly after it was spotted at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. He flew to Istanbul after it became known that Israel did not intend to help the Russians hide from European and American sanctions against them.
Abramovich is one of seven Russian billionaires on the British sanctions list in connection with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The European Union has taken similar sanctions to isolate Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Abramovich, who has Israeli and Portuguese citizenship in addition to Russian, denies having close ties to Putin.
