In the Russian capital, Moscow, for the first time since the summer, measures to combat the coronavirus are intensifying, according to Reuters.
A four-month ban on leaving the home for people over 60 who have not been vaccinated or have not been ill with COVID-19 has been introduced. At least 30% of the company’s employees must go to work from home.
The new restrictions take effect on October 25. They came amid a sharp surge in new infections and people’s reluctance to be vaccinated against the virus.
According to the mayor of the Russian capital Sergei Sobyanin, in Russia, people over 60 account for 60% of all patients with coronavirus.
Among the government’s proposals to combat the pandemic is to declare the days from October 30 to November 7 non-working. Visiting public events and some public places will be possible only with a QR-code for vaccination or COVID-19.
Russia’s regions must decide for themselves whether to impose mandatory quarantine on the unvaccinated or to provide additional days off as an incentive for immunization.
