Serbian President Alexander Vucic spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who congratulated him on his convincing victory in Sunday’s presidential election, Tanjug reports.
Putin also congratulated Vucic on the Serbian Progressive Party.
The Russian president wished Vucic success in his Serbian presidency for the next five years, assuring that Belgrade and Moscow would maintain truly friendly relations, the Serbian presidential press service said.
Vucic thanked for the wishes and said that Serbia will continue to pursue a policy of European orientation, maintaining sincere and traditional friendly relations with Russia. Vucic won 58.59% of the vote in Sunday’s presidential election, while the coalition around the Serbian Progressive Party won 42.97%.
