Alcohol will be sold to fans on the days of the World Cup matches in Qatar, the International Football Federation (FIFA) said. It is noted that beer can be purchased three hours before the match and within an hour after the final whistle.
At the same time, the intoxicating drink will be available on the territory of the stadiums, however, it will not be possible to purchase it in kiosks inside the bowls and in the stands. Meanwhile, it will be possible to buy non-alcoholic beer in kiosks.
The cost of the beer has not yet been formed, but it is known that Budweiser, a major sponsor of the football championship, which starts on November 20 and will last until December 18, will be the supplier of the foamy drink.
Restrictions on the sale of alcohol are due to the fact that the World Cup this winter will be held in a country dominated by a Muslim population. The tournament is expected to attract more than one million visitors within 29 days.
The authorities of the United Arab Emirates, as previously reported, will issue multiple-entry tourist visas for ticket holders for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Even though the World Cup will last only a month, the visas will be valid for 90 days.
It is noted that visas can be issued to holders of Hayya cards – a nominal document (of the Fan-ID type) that is required to attend any championship match. The cost of obtaining a visa will be 100 dirhams.
It can be extended for another 90 days by paying the standard visa fee. Hayya card holders can apply for visas and enter the UAE from November 1 at the online portal https://icp.gov.ae.
