At least 20 people were killed and 30 injured in a bus crash that fell off the road and fell into an abyss in northern Peru, authorities said.
Due to the remoteness of the region, news of the disaster has been spreading for several hours, according to AFP.
The bus was traveling from Tayabamba to Trujillo on a 340-kilometer route, which takes 14 hours due to poor road conditions.
In Peru, frequent traffic accidents due to poor roads, high speeds, lack of markings and non-compliance with traffic rules by drivers.
Last November, 10 people died when a van derailed in the northern part of the Peruvian jungle.
