A drunk driver fell asleep behind the wheel of a Tesla Model S while the electric car was driving on a highway in Norway. Autopilot mode was activated in the luxury sedan, and eyewitnesses filmed the dangerous incident and published it on the Internet, writes Automedia.
According to Electrek, other road users noticed the sleeping driver and tried to wake him up with beeps. Eventually, the electric sedan stopped itself in the tunnel on the road, and law enforcement officers arrived on the scene. The 24-year-old driver was found to be intoxicated.
The offender himself informed the police that he was not driving an electric car. However, many videos made by witnesses completely refute his allegations.
The actions of the Norwegian caused a lot of comments under the video. One of them is particularly eloquent: “This young man is stupid enough to get drunk behind the wheel, but at the same time he is smart enough to buy a Tesla on autopilot.”
