Victor Orban after the victory, attacked Brussels and declared Zelensky an enemy of Hungary

After Victor Orban and his party Fidesz retained the qualified majority they have had since 2010 in Hungary’s parliamentary elections on Sunday, the prime minister criticized the leadership of the European Union and some major bloc countries, according to the Brussels portal Euractiv.

After counting 98.96 percent of the vote on Monday morning, Fidesz is expected to win 135 of the 199 seats in the National Parliament, two more than in 2018.

“We have won such a great victory that it can be seen from the moon, but certainly from Brussels!” Orban told his supporters in a victory speech Sunday night.

With a high turnout (69.54%), albeit below the historic record of the previous parliamentary elections (70.22%), the united six-party opposition, including the Socialists, Social Democrats, Greens, Liberals and Conservatives, won 35.04% votes.

Saying that the victory would be unforgettable “because we had to fight the most powerful forces”, Orbán listed the left, the bureaucrats in Brussels, the empire of Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros, the international media and “even the president of Ukraine” as Hungary’s enemies.

Russia’s war in Ukraine has been the main theme of the campaign, with the opposition emphasizing Orban’s close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the ruling party accusing its opponents of dragging Hungary into the war.

“Special thanks to those who are in Transcarpathia today – the Hungarians. Our message – do not be afraid, hold on, your homeland is with you,” – said Orban congratulated the Hungarian ethnic minority of Ukraine, which before the war was estimated at 130,000 people.

The Hungarian prime minister thanked his European partners and stressed that his victory was a signal to Europe that his party’s policy was “not the past, it is the future”. This will be our common European future.
