According to Andriy Melnyk, Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin, “Olaf Scholz acts like Angela Merkel: first wait, then look and maybe make a decision, maybe not.” He added that the SPD’s policy “lacked imagination and courage”.
Andrei Melnik told the newspaper “Bild am Sonntag” that the policy of the German Chancellor is “sluggish”. He expressed his conviction that many Germans needed an energetic head of government.
The diplomat stressed that Ukraine needs the latest German weapons to defeat Russia, incl. Leopard tanks, Marder armored personnel carriers and self-propelled howitzers.
“Putin’s attack on Ukraine concerns everyone”
He considered the fear that, due to the supply of weapons, Germany would become a party to the conflict, complete nonsense. “For Putin, Germany has long been a party to the conflict,” Melnik said.
– World War III has already begun. Putin’s attack on Ukraine affects everyone, including the Germans, even if it is not yet military. Putin is waging this destructive war against the entire West, against our system of values, the Ukrainian ambassador stressed.
