London wants to sell weapons to Ukraine, writes the British Times. The newspaper notes that concerns about Nord Stream 2 are growing in Kiev.
This will be the first such transaction in history between London and Kiev. These are Brimstone missiles that can be installed on Ukrainian patrol boats and aircraft carriers.
According to the Times, Ukrainian diplomats are wondering whether the green light for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will also be a green light for further Russian aggression. Anonymous interviewees from Ukraine explain to the newspaper that so far Russia had to restrain itself, because gas was going through the country of our neighbors to Western Europe.
Nord Stream 2 allows Ukraine to avoid this. One diplomat from Kiev warns that Moscow may be preparing a winter military campaign. – They don’t need Crimea. They need all of Ukraine, – says the source of the newspaper.
The Times writes that the confidence of Russians has also increased after the first steps of the Joe Biden administration: the rejection of opposition to Nord Stream 2 and the chaotic withdrawal of the Americans from Afghanistan.
