Thirteen Russian planes were “arrested” in Ukraine

A court in Ukraine has arrested 13 Airbus planes belonging to a Russian airline flying to the Crimea.

According to the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine in Crimea, the court arrested 13 planes of the Russian carrier, which were used to transport passengers to / from the checkpoint “Simferopol-Avia”, which is located in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and was closed by Ukraine.

Regular flights of the Russian airline are carried out in violation of Ukrainian rules of entry to the peninsula. Flight by foreign airlines on the territory of Crimea is considered by Ukraine as a violation of international law and actions that undermine its sovereignty. In addition, it violates the legislation of Ukraine, which entails criminal liability of the carrier, operators and commanders of airliners, the prosecutor’s office said.

They added that at least 37 Russian airlines operate regular flights to the peninsula. Earlier, 211 planes were detained as part of this criminal case.
