An original emergency with a tragic outcome occurred in Italy. A 47-year-old tourist, originally from Ukraine, was attacked by a swarm of wasps on the beach. He threw himself into the sea and died, but, as it turned out, not from bites, but from a heart attack. At the same time, as ABS Zeitung writes, the tourist was not stung at all.
The publication writes that the tourist-engineer planned to spend a short vacation in the southern Italian city of Crotone with his family. When a swarm of wasps appeared, he panicked and quickly ran into the water. There he was found lifeless. Help arrived too late.
According to police reports, the 47-year-old man suffered a heart attack or heart failure. Initially, emergency services suspected that he was stung by insects and suffered allergic shock. However, no bites were found on his body during the autopsy.
The wasps also attacked several rescuers, which subsequently complicated the recovery of the body. As a result, local authorities ordered the closure of the beach area. Special services found several wasp nests that must be destroyed.
