Police in the separatist Transnistrian region of Moldova say the State Security Ministry building was hit today by several explosions, which were probably caused by a grenade launcher, the AP reported, citing the BTA.
No injuries were reported. The interior ministry said some windows in the building were smashed and smoke billowed from the building.
Transnistria, a strip of land with a population of about 470,000, located between Moldova and Ukraine, has been controlled by separatist authorities since the 1992 war with Moldova.
Russia has deployed about 1,500 soldiers, nominally called peacekeepers.
A few days ago, Deputy Commander of Russia’s Central Military District Rustam Minekayev said that establishing full control over southern Ukraine would give Russia access to Transnistria.
