World Health Organization (WHO) Chief Scientist Sumiya Swaminathan said today that the novel coronavirus pandemic is not over yet, as new variants of the pathogen will emerge, Reuters reported.
“We have seen how the virus evolves and mutates. We know there will be new options. New options that will be of concern, so the pandemic is not over yet,” Swaminathan told reporters in South Africa.
There, she and WHO Director-General Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus visited vaccine factories.
