New York State Governor Kathy Hokul has declared a state of emergency due to monkeypox.
Earlier, state officials declared monkeypox an “imminent public health threat” due to the increase in the incidence.
According to Hokul, the state of emergency will allow the authorities to respond more quickly and give doctors the opportunity to take additional steps to actively vaccinate New Yorkers.
It is noted that one in four cases of monkeypox in the United States occurs in the state of New York.
